911 Gives Hope Foundation
911 Gives Hope was established and will be overseen by a group of three police officers and three firefighters. The goal of the 911 Gives Hope Foundation for 2009 is to raise $100,000.00, all of which will be donated back to the community with the exception of expenses. The amount raised in 2009 was $50,000. Short of our goal, but very happy that we will be able to support our community projects.
The 911 Gives Hope Foundation has donated $50,000 in proceeds from the 2009 Guns & Hoses annual event to area charities. The individual gifts ranged in size from $500 to $20,000 and supported groups including the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center, Holly's House and The Boys & Girls Club.

About Guns & Hoses
Evansville Guns & Hoses is a charitable fundraiser that consists of exhibition boxing matches between police officers and firefighters. On March 8th, 2008, Evansville had it's first Guns & Hoses event at the Coliseum in front of a sold out crowd. The response was overwhelming and the next Guns & Hoses event was held on March 7th, 2009 at the Roberts Stadium. 4,600 spectators saw the Fire Department defeat the Police Department 11 matches to 7 matches. The opening before the fights was something to see. A City of Evansvile fire truck and Police motorcycles were driven in with emergency lights activated. The National Anthem was sung by Phil Culbertson and Heather Williams.
Evansville Guns & Hoses started as a fundraiser to help fund research for Prader-Willi Syndrome and to help maintain Kids Kingdom Playground in Evansville. $20,000.00 was received the first year. $5,000.00 was donated to Prader-Willi United States of America, $5,000.00 was donated to Youth Resorces Teen Advisory Council for the maintenance of Kids Kingdom Playground and $500.00 was donated to Holly's House. In 2009, Guns & Hoses raised $63,000 and donated the money to the same causes. Money was also given other children's charities, such as Easter Seals and Youth Services Bureau. The remaining funds were used to establish a boxing gym for both police officers and fire fighters to train in and to secure Roberts Stadium for this years event.
